This assessment instrument helps you quickly assess your organisation’s maturity of AI governance across four key pillars. There are four statements per pillar, 16 statements in total. Your results and guidance will be revealed instantly at the end, which you can save and/or print.

Guidance on Completing the Assessment

For each Pillar, indicate the Level of compliance with the Statement, in accordance with the following scale:

1. Ad-hoc: Non-existent or reactive.
2. Initialised: Some awareness and initial steps taken, but implementation is inconsistent.
3. Standardised: Processes are defined and repeatable, usually only within parts of the organisation.
4. Enterprised: Embedded across the organisation with strong governance and organisation-wide monitoring.
5. Optimised: Fully integrated, continuously refined, and residual risk related to AI-usage in projects is consistently low.

• If the organisation is between levels, for example between Initialised and Standardised for the statement on Strategic Alignment, then indicate an “in-between” score: 2.5.
• If in doubt, consider the spirit of the Statement. The purpose is to establish a benchmark regarding maturity of processes that govern AI usage in projects and programmes. Choose a maturity level that most closely matches the organisation’s ability to satisfy that statement.
• Ethical use of AI assistance implies generating unbiased, harmless outputs while maintaining responsible oversight and accountability.
  Efficient use of AI tools implies that such use enhances productivity without wasting effort or expense.
  Effective use of AI tools implies that such usage successfully achieves intended outcomes.
• In the AIPG-CMM Assessment Statements that follow, reference to “projects” implies “projects and programmes”. Adjust interpretation whether this benchmark is being performed at project/programme level, portfolio level or enterprise level.
